A new community sports space at Highwall Park
Uniplay worked on behalf of Proludic to deliver a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at Highwall Park in Waverley, Rotherham. Highwall Park sits within one of South Yorkshire's new residential developments and is designed as a central community space where residents of all ages can exercise, play and socialise.
The brief was to install a hard-wearing sports surface that would perform well and suit the modern design of the park. The finished court shows how careful design, good materials and an experienced install team come together in one scheme.
A design-led sports facility
Modern sports facilities are about more than somewhere to play football or basketball. Public spaces need to be welcoming, inclusive and built to take years of regular use while staying safe underfoot. For Highwall Park the layout and colours were chosen to sit well with the park around it and to encourage everyday recreation alongside organised sport.
To achieve this, Uniplay combined two of our specialist products:
- Xtreme surface covering
- Preformed thermoplastic sports markings
Together these create a durable, colourful and practical playing surface built to last.
Why we chose Xtreme surface covering
Xtreme is a two-component epoxy-acrylic surface coating developed for sports courts, MUGAs, playgrounds and outdoor recreational areas where appearance, durability and safety all matter. It is formulated to hold up in demanding outdoor conditions.
Key benefits include:
- Strong colour that keeps its look outdoors
- Anti-slip properties for safety in wet and dry weather
- Resistance to wear from constant footfall and play
- UV and weather resistance to hold its colour and finish
- A clean, professional appearance for schools, parks and community spaces
- Low maintenance across its service life

Precision thermoplastic sports markings
Once the surface was complete, our team applied preformed thermoplastic sports markings. Unlike painted lines, thermoplastic markings are more durable and keep their crisp edges for longer, with strong adhesion and wear resistance so the court stays clearly defined.
The precise line markings work with the surface coating to give a clean finish suitable for a range of sports.
Installed by an experienced team
Every Uniplay installation is carried out by trained operatives. Working on behalf of Proludic, our team prepared the surface, applied the Xtreme coating and installed the thermoplastic markings to the agreed specification, with quality checks at each stage.
Bringing the community together
A well-designed MUGA encourages physical activity, supports informal sport and gives children, teenagers and adults a safe outdoor space. As more families move into the Waverley development and the landscaping matures, the Highwall Park MUGA will become a place where people meet, exercise and spend time outdoors.
